The flight from Quito (via Guayaquil) to the Galapagos is approximately 2 ½ hours on a Boeing 727. Upon arrival at Baltra travelers pass through an airport inspection point to ensure that no foreign plants or animals are introduced to the islands and to pay the park entrance fee of $100 (unless prepaid as in your case). Guides will meet you, collect your luggage and escort you on the short bus ride to the harbor. Motorized rafts, called ‘Pangas’ will transport you to the M/V Darwin and our crew will welcome you onboard. After departure and lunch, the first island visit is made. |

Monday Afternoon: Santa Cruz (Indefatigable) Island—Highlands The Reserve. The Reserve is an Inviting 6 Km walk from Santa Rosa. Giant Tortoises, Vermillion Flycatchers, Yellow Warblers, Finches, The Pachay Bird, Barn Owls, and Patillos can be observed in their natural habitat of abundant vegetation and Fresh Water Ponds. The reserve area is accessed through private farm Land where Visitors are invited to enjoy seasonal fruit, Horseback riding, Nature walks and a hike through a Lava Tunnel The Twins ( Los Gemelos)A path of approximately 195 meters in the geological zone is Dominated by two dramatic and extensive sink holes on each side of the road to Baltra, north of Puerto Ayora. These sink Holes are sunken magma chambers caused by the sinking of the superficial layers of land. Other craters have been found. Nearby and are believed to be aligned on a common fissure. The Vegetation is Typical of the humid zone with the. Characteristic greenness of the Scalesia Forest. It is possible to Watch Vermillion Flycatchers. Bran Owls Galapagos Doves, Finches, and other birdlife. This Location is ideal for Interpretation, photography and hiking. |

Tuesday morning AM RABIDA ISLAND Fascinating island. Different to the rest of the island due to the red colored beach hosting sea lion colonies as well as Darwin finches, pelicans, very good place to snorkel Tuesday Afternoon: Santiago (San Salvador, James) Island—James Bay This island has several sites to visit at the western end of James Bay. Puerto Egas, with its black sand beaches, was the site of small salt mining industry in the 1960s and a hike inland to the salt crater is an excellent opportunity to sight land birds such as finches, doves, and hawks. A walk down the rugged shoreline, especially at low tide, will turn up many marine species such as iguanas basking on the rocks and sea lions lazing in the tide pools. At the end of the trail there is a series of grottoes or sea caves where fur seals and night herons are found resting on shady ledges. Just north of James Bay is Buccaneer Cove, a particularly scenic area of steep cliffs and dark beaches. Wednesday Morning : Bartolome (Bartholomew) Island Bartolome is a small island that has beautiful white sandy beaches, luxuriant green mangroves and a colony of penguins. Activities will include swimming and snorkeling and a climb to the summit of the island for one of the most breathtaking views in all the Galapagos. From the summit you will have the best view of the often-photographed Pinnacle Rock. |

Thursday Afternoon Tortuga Bay After a walk of approximately one hour on a pavestone Path through arid vegetation, visitors are rewarded by the View of a beautiful white sand beach and surrounding Dunes. These dunes provide an ideal hiding area for the eggs of marine turtles. Here the ocean is perfect for surfing, swimming or just relaxing on the beach. At the far end of the beach is a rocky point creating a barrier for the tranquil Playa Mansa and the surrounding mangrove Forest, a great place for snorkelling, Kayaking, swimming or picnics. Darwin finches, mockingbirds, yellow warblers, sea turtles, marine Iguanas, pelicans, sharks and other coastal birds decorate this gorgeous landscape. |

The Van Straelen Center provides visitors with Detailed information about the formation of the islands and Other interesting Galapagos facts. After stopping by the Van Straelen, visitors continue to the breeding centers where they Learn about programs to breed and repatriate land Iguanas and They can see Giant Tortoises in all stages of development. The Breeding center is home to Lonesome George, The last of his Particular species. He was moved from Española Island to the Center in hopes of breeding with a similar sspecies. From this area, most visitors continue their tour through the Grounds of the Charles Darwin Research Center which was Established in Puerto Ayora in 1964.
